Jonas' dream [Ch. 5] - possible answers

“he felt slightly embarrassed” (p. 35, ll.13)	He has to tell his parents about his dream because there is the evening telling of feelings ritual and the telling of dreams ritual.
“made him uneasy” (p. 35, ll. 18)	He feels uncomfortable because he has to tell his parents every single detail. He is used to tell the truth  = ritual
“The wanting” (p. 35, ll. 26)	His sexual desires had overcome him.
“confusing”  (p. 35, ll.37)	Jonas is not sure what to make of the dream - he does not know what is happening to him. His knowledge is limited.
“miserable” (p. 36, l. 23)	Jonas is afraid he could been send away for a treatment and he could miss his Ceremony of Twelve.
“pleasurable” (p. 37, l.21)	He liked his dream although he isn't sure what to make of it.

Some rituals show that feelings are somehow utterly important in the community, e.g. the telling of feelings in the evening and talking about dreams. Why do you think are these rituals important for the community, especially for the Committee of Elders?

Search the internet for different book covers of the novel "The Giver" and decide which cover you like best.
